From Seuss to Spade?
Conversation between Hamlet and Rain Dog at bedtime:
H: Daddy, tell me a story about a bad man.
R: What kind of bad man?
H: Just a bad man.
R: Does he stay bad, or become nice?
H: He stays bad.
Four years old and already thinking noirish thoughts. It's a crime writer's career dream come true.

As long as Hamlet doesn't *become* the bad man... That's a bit too noir-ish even for a crime writer.
Imagine having a little girl with curly locks and big brown eyes who said that. And also watched forties movies with Barbara Stanwyck at five instead of cartoons.
LOL Patti! Does that describe you, or Megan?
Well, my favorite movies starred Shirley Temple if that tells you anything.
Cool kid. Reminds me me of the story of Tom Waits' son at Elvis' grave saying something like, "Can we get his teeth out and make a necklace?"
Patti, Shirley's movies had some dark undertones. All those wounded WWI vets?
Daniel, he is a pretty cool kid. Did Waits Jr. really say that? That's great!
